Summer Fun

We just got back from a backpacking trip in the Uinta Mountains and just before that we were at a family reunion in Lake Powell.  It's going to take me a little while to get those pictures together and organized but I thought I would post some other miscellaneous things we've been doing this summer.

What do you do in the Summertime?

Roll water balloons down the steps and take pictures to see the funny shapes of the balloon.

Get a leak in the ceiling from the toilet upstairs.  The paint bubble was fascinating!!

Practice a little archery.  A spoiled gallon of milk makes an excellent target.

Stand on some eggs.  Did you know that if you stand carefully, none of the eggs break because your weight is distributed and the egg shells are actually pretty strong?

Or, microwave a bar of IVORY soap and make soap clouds.  It just takes a minute or two in the microwave and it looks like this and feels really weird.  You should try it!!  Just make sure it's Ivory since other types of soap don't work (so I've been told).

Hogle Zoo

Last Friday, I took Adam, Rebecca and Rachel to the Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake City.  I remember going to that zoo when I was little and would come to Utah to visit my grandparents.  I love the Hogle Zoo.  We saw elephants, giraffes, tigers, monkeys, a rhinoceros, a huge polar bear that climbed the window right in front of us, and a bird show that was really cool.  It was a little crowded but it really was a great day at the zoo.  (If you can't see everything really well, just double click on the picture and it should enlarge)

Oh, I just realized that I should explain about a few of the pictures.  Right now at the zoo, there are displays of animals made out of legos.  The polar bear is the largest one but they have penguins (also pictured), monkeys, turtles, and others.  It was really cool to see the lego animals and has inspired us to try to build a few (on a much smaller scale).

My Last Bobcat

My youngest son, Adam, earned his Bobcat award for Cub Scouts.  I just still can't believe that my youngest is now in Scouting.  It really was just a few years ago that he was born.  My how time flies.  It's so fun to be back in Scouting thought.  Cub Scouts is the BEST!!!
