Happy Memorial Day!!
We spent a good amount of time over the weekend at Rachel's soccer tournament in Layton. They did really well and made it to the final game. The game ended with a tie of 1-1 so they went into overtime. When that was finished it was still 1-1 so they did shoot outs. Sadly, they lost the shoot outs and came in second place, but what a great game!!!! Good job Rachel and team!!!

"THE QUILT" is Finished!!!
That might not mean much to anyone who hasn't lived in my house some time in the last 20 years. So let me explain....
I started a scrap quilt about 20 years ago. Using scraps from various sewing projects I started making 9 patch quilting blocks. I worked on these blocks over the years (like 10 years) off and on until I had 144 blocks.
Then it was time to make the stripping and piece the whole quilt together. Needless to say, this took some time, especially since I only worked on it once in a while.
I finally got it all pieced together and put it on a quilting frame. I bought one that you could roll the quilt onto so it didn't take up much room. I figured I better do this because at the rate I was going, it might be a few months before I finished it. Well, it was more than a few months. It turns out that hand quilting takes a very long time. Don't get me wrong, I loved doing it and it looks beautiful, but it took a lot of time. I think it was up on the quilt frames for about 4 years. During 3 of those years I was RS Pres and I didn't work on it much at all during that time.
I eventually finished all the quilting and it didn't take too long to do the binding. I finished the last stitch TODAY!!
I can't tell you how happy I am to have finished this project!!!
Here is a close up picture of a part of the quilt and then a picture of the whole thing. I think I might cover it with protective covering and hang it on the wall so it won't get touched at all. Hahahaha!! Just kidding.

Video Error
The video doesn't show up when I view the blog. Not sure what to do about that. Let me know if anyone is able to see it. Thanks.
Lots of Wins Today for the Powell Family
It's been a very rainy couple of weeks with very wet soccer games. Today seemed to be no exception. But, the games went on and everyone did great!!
Rachel won her game 2-0.
I watched Rebecca's first half and left at half time. The score was 0-0 when I left. She won her game 3-1.... AND SHE SCORED ALL 3 GOALS (of course it was after I left).
Adam made the winning goal off a corner kick to him to win their game 2-1.
David also won his softball game (well, one of them anyway). He had a double header and they lost one and won one.
Way to go POWELLS!!
Here is a little video clip of Adam's goal. It's very hard to see, especially on a small screen, but he wanted me to include it.

The Raingutter Regata
Yesterday was our Pack Raingutter Regata and it was super fun!! Adam did great winning all his races until the very final one. He ended up coming in second place overall. Loved the ducky trophies.

The Flowers are Blooming
I have been having a good time in my yard (and working hard). The flowers have been blooming and my garden seems to be getting a good start. I have also become an expert at drip systems. I have replaced all the sprinklers in our yard that water flower beds or the garden with drippers. It has taken me a lot of time and many trips to Home Depot, but I think I've got it all up and working. Yay!! If you need any pointers, give me a call. I think I even know more than the irrigation guy at Home Depot. Hahahaha
This is my tackle box full of drip system pieces. I finally had to do something to get it all organized because David said I couldn't keep it all spread out on the garage floor. LOL

No Pictures? Hmmmmmm
Well, I now see that my pictures are not showing. Weird. I will go back and edit that post and hopefully it will work this time. Wish me luck.

I'm Back
It's been a little while since I've been able to blog. Besides the fact that my computer crashed and it was down for a while, I've also just been busy with life. I don't really have time to go back and cover everything that's happened so I'm just going to dive in with life as it is today.
First of all, I got a picture of my cute little grandson SITTING IN A HIGH CHAIR. Could he be old enough for a high chair? Oh my goodness, he is growing up too fast.
I've also had some time to finish some more projects. A new FHE chart (since 3 of our 8 family members aren't here for FHE anymore) and a cute little quilt made out of bandanas.

I also need to include a picture of us all together at Jordan's wedding. We were so glad we could be there to share in that wonderful day.
