CAMP ALMA
Our stake had a 2 day mission preparation conference for all young men 16 to 18 years old. I understand it was great. Jared went and David went as a leader. Oh... Jared's papers are in and he should have a mission call in about 2 weeks. Oh my goodness!! How exciting!!
YOUTH CONFERENCE
Then Jared came home and youth conference started for all the kids 14 to 18 years of age. It lasted 3 days and was held at the U of U. Joshua said it was great and David said it was really good too but he wished he could've had a little more sleep.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAVID!!
We celebrated a little late because he was at Youth Conference.
NEW FENCE
We're also getting a fence put in. If it would just stop raining for a little while, maybe they could finish.
OQUIRRH MOUNTAIN TEMPLE
We went to the Oquirrh (even Rebecca can spell that now) Mountain Temple Open House today. It was so beautiful. The colors inside were just gorgeous and you just can't believe the chandeliers. I couldn't even begin to describe them. Of course they are huge but as you look up at them they are in the shape of stars. Words just can't do it justice. Here's a picture that shows the chandelier and I think you can see the star shape.
DAVID GOT A JOB
For those of you who didn't know, David lost his job May 1st. Lot's has happened since then but he starts a new job next Monday.

Congrats to David. Sounds like a lot of great activities going on. I heard the Oquirrh Temple Angel Moroni was struck by lightning. Crazy. Can't wait to hear where Jared will be serving his mission!
That was all in one week?
Glad to hear everyone on is happy.
that was a busy week! Is everything ok with job situation? My sister in law also just lost her job. We can't wait to visit with you all soon! I loved all the soft springy colors of the pictures in Draper and your backyard. i heard about all the rain. A friend of mine in Draper's basement is flooding!
I just had to comment again, because I scrolled down and read about the microburst storm.
When I was in college in 1993, I was working in Provo, and there was this terrible storm. I thought for sure it was a tornado or something too! I watched those giant metal trash can containers in the back of businesses get dragged across the parking lot from the wind.
Upo driving home on University Street in Provo, I couldn't beleive the damage. Giant old trees downed from the ROOTS and landed on houses. Half the trees down the Univiserty street were uprooted in different places. Signs, traffic poles, traffic lights twisted and mangled. All manner of debri blocking traffic. What is usually a 10 minute drive home took 45 minutes because of all the trees and downed lights in the street, and the power was out for most of Provo.
As for Oreo and the snake..there's gotta be some sort of checks and balances. Do the boys really do promise to clean up after the snake? Because I am the only one that takes care of the "messy work and duties" of owning two dogs, despite promises from my kids in order to get the second dog.
Forgot to mention, that storm in 1993 in Provo was also reported as a microburst.
Sorry, another comment! I was curious about the microburst storm I witnessed. I just researched it online.
Thunderstorms produced strong microburst winds to 73 mph at Provo BYU area. It was May 24, 1994.
I was engaged to Ryan, and a few days later, I had my endowments done with Ryan in attendance at the Provo Temple.
See this site to check out crazy weather int eh Utah Valley areas since 1847 to 1995 www.utahweather.org/UWC/utahs_daily_wx_almanac/1847_1995.html
It is crazy! You gotta really brace yourself. You think it will be spring, then it is still winter. Then you think summer is here, and then winter comes back to pay you a visit.
I must be really OCD by now!!!!
I was just scrolling some more on this previously said site, and it hit again a few days later, a day after I recieved my endowments. The one on May 31st is actually the one I witnessed.
Here is the copy/paste of the report:
May 31, 1994-
Severe weather blasted many areas of northwest and west central Utah. Thunderstorms embedded with damaging microburst winds, marble size hail, and heavy rains raised havoc. The Provo area was particularly hard hit with a recorded wind gusts of over 100 mph on the BYU Campus. Provo City activated the Emergency Operating Center for Utah County due to the severity of the storm. Damage throughout Provo was incredible with hundreds of large trees uprooted and many buildings reported significant damage. Total damage from the storm was around 8 million dollars. Other wind gusts reported from the thunderstorms included: Delta and Great Salt Lake State Park 81 mph, Little Cottonwood Canyon 73 mph, Magna 66 mph, Salt Lake City International Airport 62 mph, and South Jordan 60 mph. In addition, Dugway, picked up 1.24" of rain in a short time.
